🌍🍯 ________________________________ 🇬🇧 🐝 A closer look at beekeeping in the Caucasus During a recent visit to Georgia, we had the opportunity to gain a closer insight into the country's beekeeping sector, which is home to around 14,000 beekeepers and where the Caucasian honey bee, known for its gentle behaviour, is predominant. The honey trade is particularly significant, especially in tourist areas, where it is common to find a wide variety of honeys and other bee products being sold along the roadside, particularly aimed at Muslim visitors — a key market for beehive products. During our visit, we also had the opportunity to visit Impervet Ltd., the country's largest distributor of beekeeping equipment and a member of the Lyson family, where there was also time to exchange knowledge and experiences. One of the main challenges currently facing the sector is the recent arrival of the *Tropilaelaps mercedesae* mite, a pest that is causing significant concern and represents a serious threat to beekeeping. Discovering different realities allows us to better understand the challenges facing beekeeping worldwide, exchange experiences and continue to follow the evolution of the sector. 🌍🍯
